About Us
Black Lab Home Repairs is a locally owned and operated business that only serves Davis and Woodland California. Our Founder, Al Aldrete, was raised in Davis, and his family has settled down in Woodland. We take pride in having roots in both of these communities and we love serving the people of these communities.
We are committed to bringing our clients a premium experience on every project no matter the size.
About Al
Al grew up in Davis, CA, graduated from DHS in 1996 and dreamed of becoming a Marine Biologist. Life had a different set of plans and in 1999, Al met the woman of his dreams, Christine. In 2003, Al and Christine got married and Al started his career in banking. As a small business lender, Al worked with contractors to get them financing for their businesses. Jump forward a decade and a couple of job changes, Al ended up as the Plant Operations Manager for a Senior Living Community in Davis. After two years there, Al took what he had learned from his time in the “Corporate world,” and applied it to starting a Handyman business. After five years of running a successful Handyman business, Al was eligible to apply for a contractors license in the state of California and Black Lab Home Repairs, Inc. was born.
When Al is not fixing or building things for others, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He has coached AYSO soccer, built sets for DMTC, helped with Boy Scouts and loves to just be a part of his children’s lives as much as possible. “Our family enjoys to go camping together, spending time in Lake Tahoe on the Family boat, or going for walks in the woods or along the beach.” Al also enjoys fishing, hunting and training Bear.
About Bear
Bear is a young Black lab who has a streak of Springer Spaniel in him. He came to the Aldrete Family in April of 2020 during the Pandemic. Bear’s favorite thing to do is “work.” He loves to go to the park, field, or river to work on his skills and retrieve. He has so far only gone on a couple of Dove hunts with Al, but we have hopes to meet up with his litter mates for some pheasant hunting in the near future. After working in the field, Bears next love is water (he is a Lab after all), and then it is being a shop dog. Bear loves to keep Al company while in shop or on a job site when permissible.
While Black Lab Home Repairs was founded in January of 2021, our Founder, Al Aldrete, has been in the Home Repair Services industry for over 7 years. Located in Woodland, Ca, we only serve the communities of Woodland and Davis, CA .
